Lunar Umbral Eclipse in 142 days

When
6:55 am (UTC) on March 14, 2025
Details
Sun at Pisces 23° 56' / Moon at Virgo 23° 56'
About Lunar Eclipses in Virgo

The Moon will be in Virgo, an Earth sign ruled by Mercury. The Sun will be in Pisces, a Water sign ruled by Neptune (modern) and Jupiter (traditional). This eclipse highlights the polarity between Virgo’s practical and detail-oriented energy and Pisces’ dreamy, intuitive, and emotional nature.

The Moon in Virgo is reserved and thoughtful, keeping her own counsel and finding comfort in order and boundaries. The Sun in Pisces is compassionate and sensitive, longing to feel and merge. The learning opportunity in this eclipse is for the parts of us that are rigid or closed to become more fluid and open, and for the parts of us that are confused or boundary-less to become more grounded and discerning.

The Virgo-Pisces axis is about devotion, humility, and surrender. They are both surrendering their ego: Virgo through the humility of daily work and service; Pisces through the dissolution of the self and merging with the Divine.

Questions to ask yourself during this eclipse: What are you devoted to? What do you need to surrender or surrender to? Where are you trying to control the unknown when it would be better to trust? What are you trusting where it would be better to develop discernment or skill?

How Will This Eclipse Affect Me?

Look for where Virgo 23° 56' is in your natal chart. If you have a planet near that point, learn more about the planet and the house it is in to understand how it may affect you. Look also at your angels (Ascendant, Midheaven, etc).

Virgo is a Mutable mode sign. The Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. Signs in the same mode form squares to each other, so also look at 23° 56' in these other signs.

How close is close? It depends. A general rule of thumb is within 2° will have a strong impact and from 2-10° would have a less intense effect, with closer being stronger. It also depends on what point it is contacting and how strong a role this point plays in your life. A transit to your Chart Ruler for example, could be more impactful. (The Chart Ruler is the planet that rules your Ascendant). Keep in mind that eclipse energy can play out over the 3-6 months after the eclipse.

People who were born near an eclipse tend to be more impacted by eclipse energy. You can find out by Googling "eclipses in (your birth year)" to see if there were any near your birth date.

Finally, Lunar eclipses tend to have internal effects and are associated with emotional releases, shifts in perspective, and completion of a cycle, whereas Solar eclipses tend to affect us on a more external, visible level, and are associated with new beginnings and breakthroughs.
